Salary range:
The posted UC system-wide salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 3 for the salary range at UCSB. A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $108,700-$228,700. "Off-scale salaries", i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description

The Department of Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in macroeconomics of inequality or macroeconomics and environmental issues. Other specializations will not be considered. The ideal candidate will contribute teaching and mentoring excellence to serve our graduate program and our large and highly diverse undergraduate major. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position. This is a full-time 100% appointment position with a proposed start date of July 1, 2025.


Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD or equivalent in Economics, or a related field, except the dissertation, at the time of application.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Applicants must have their Ph.D. conferred by time of appointment. The anticipated appointment start date is July 1, 2025 or later. Applicants must specialize in the field of macroeconomics of inequality or macroeconomics and environmental issues to be eligible for consideration.

Preferred qualifications

The preferred candidate will have demonstrated commitment to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in an academic setting.

The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated research program within the field of macroeconomics.
