Job Summary

Responsible for the technical operations of assigned department. Responsible for the daily departmental operations and maintains effective working relationship with internal and external customers.

Essential Functions

  • Provide effective leadership by coordinating and integrating services within their department, with other departments and with the hospital's primary functions. Assist with direct patient care as appropriate.

  • Manage department human resources by determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations; implementing and monitoring staffing plans; providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applying policies/procedures pertaining to human resources management.

  • Continuously assess and improve the department's performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI activities. Properly administers contrast materials associated with imaging procedures that are within the scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or in approved Radiology protocol.

  • Manage the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks, preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff and visitors. May be expected to present medical staff quality review information at medical staff quality/department meetings as appropriate.

  • Manage departmental budget including processes to monitor operational and capital costs.

  • Implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services. Participates in continuing education to maintain license/certification as appropriate

  • Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Associate degree. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Experience - Three (3) years healthcare experience

  • ARRT

  • SCRQSA

  • CPR

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledgeable with department regulatory requirements including JCAHO and DHEC standards

  • Able to remain current with hospital, accreditation, regulatory and medical staff requirements in order to update policies and procedures

  • Able to identify performance improvement opportunities and develop action plans to address quality assurance issues.

  • Leadership and budgetary skills - Preferred

  • Radiology and Supervisory experience - Preferred
