The primary responsibilities of the Operating Engineer include the operation, maintenance, and repair of campus HVAC, Plumbing, and BAS Control systems. This position requires understanding of boilers, steam and hot water heating systems, chillers and chilled water systems, refrigeration equipment, electrical controls, building automation, plumbing, and water treatment.

Base starting salary: $31.30/hr. Additional certifications may also qualify you for an hourly bonus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

  • 3-5 years' experience in the service, maintenance, repair, and installation of air handling equipment, such as uninvents, fan coils, exhaust fans, make up air fans, unit heaters, air handling units for single and multiple zones to include lubrication, filter changing, coil cleaning, changing belts and bearings.

  • 3-5 years' experience working with BAS and mechanical systems

  • Understand and demonstrate the ability to fabricate and install piping and tubing for plumbing and HVAC repairs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment electrically and mechanically with meters, gauges, and computer diagnostics.

  • Experience Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing building heating supply and return lines, as well as cleaning, repairing and replacing strainers, valves, and other fittings as required.

  • Ability to work from ladders and lifts to access equipment.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and a valid driver's license.
