A Brief Overview

Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of database environments to include data definition structure, documentation of databases, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection activities. The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for creating and maintaining Clinical Research study specific databases based on protocol requirements, performing validations on Reading Centers databases, dataflow monitoring, data management, and quality assurance checks.

What You Will Do



  • Responsible for planning, development, and implementation of database environments to include data definition structure, documentation of databases, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection activities.
  • Assists the Database Administrator in establishing database standards and guidelines, assuring the quality of database deliverables and working with departmental staff to support database needs.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and support of Ophthalmology image analysis applications in relation to their databases, while working directly with peers, application developers/vendors, and study coordinators, CROs and study sponsor to meet the operational needs of the organization.
  • Serves as a liaison between the organization, Contract Research Organizations and study sponsors to ensure the database environment meets organization policies and regulatory requirements in conjunction with application requirements.
  • Implements installation and maintains MS SQL Servers.
  • Creates, maintains, and deploys databases.
  • Creates, maintains, and tests database backup, maintenance, and restoration plans.
  • Test disaster recovery procedures.
  • Create tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and report queries related to database administration.
  • Performs and supports Database Administrator in database validation procedures.
