POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The Electrical Engineer will:



  • Serve as an electrical engineer, performing programming and base development duties in support of a military installation.
  • Evaluates, recommends and develops plans for renovation and improvements of real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of electrical engineering.
  • Performs programming for the accomplishment of operations and maintenance (O&M).
  • Conducts site facility surveys to gather preliminary information and validate requirements.
  • Conducts studies and economic analyses of new proposals to determine feasibility of renovation or modification versus new construction.
  • Prepares, programming documentation/packages, cost estimates, and other required reports within established time frames.
  • Determines the validity, feasibility, achievability, and efficiency of a proposed project based on constraints in scheduling, cost manpower.
  • Uses effective communication skills and builds good working relationships.
  • Coordinates projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete.
  • Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to solve engineering problems and facilitate work.
  • Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
  • Ensures federal, state , and local codes concerning health, safety, and the environment are strictly adhered to in the programming, design, and construction of real property facilities.
  • Uses personal protective equipment as appropriate and complies with occupational safety and health directives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Requirements:




  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain Flight line driving permit.
  • ABET Accredited College/University 4 year degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years in assigned field.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and manufacturers' installation and operation manuals.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand American English.
  • Knowledge of conformance to a variety of applicable commercial, local, state, and federal codes, rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to plan, conduct, and record site/facility surveys and inspections.
