Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruits, admits, and serves an eligible, diverse student population regionally, nationally, and internationally. It embraces the university's commitment to attain the quality of students who are able to matriculate and graduate. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions also maintains the integrity of the admissions process; thus ensuring efficient and systematic evaluation of credentials. Through multipe recruitment strategies, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions works to ensure that eligible student have access to higher education.
Primary Purpose of Position
The university seeks a dynamic and innovative visionary to serve in an informational role with prospective students, parents, and high school counselors. The counselor will manage an assigned geographic territory to recruit a diverse, qualified and talented group of students to the university. This position will give high priority to the recruitment of Hispanic and Latino students during the fall and spring.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Serves as a member of the Admissions Team managing a recruitment territory to assist in achieving enrollment objectives for the university; Reviews, authenticates and makes official admissions decisions on behalf of the university; Conducts research on assigned territories and performs analysis of admissions eligibility; Implements recruitment stategies as outlined in the admissions plan in the assigned territory to include high school and community college visits. Willingness to be present at evening and/or weekend programs, activities and meetings. Ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality of all information, files, and records via the BANNER system required. Be able and willing to travel frequently. Proficiency in MS Office Applications, including word, power point, and excel. Experience in using a student information system ( BANNER, DATATEL, AdmissionPros, etc..). Demonstrate ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one settings, as well as in small and large group situations, to a variety of audiences.
Minimum Education/Experience
A Bachelor's degree, outstanding public speaking, oral and written skills, excellent computer skills, outstanding customer service skills and a valid driver's license. Fluency in Spanish is required.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties


Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Work closely with the Associate Director of Admissions and Director Admissions. The person should be an energetic and enthusiastic individual who will articulate admissions policies and procedures to students, parents and counselors by participating in university undergraduate admissions recruitment activities, including college day/night programs, individual visits to secondary and post secondary institutions, alumni meetings, campus visit programs, and other events as required. Recruitment activities will involve extensive travel, both in-state and out-of-state, and considerable public speaking in both English and Spanish, including conducting information sessions on campus for prospective students and their parents.


Function Public Service
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Recruit students and manage applicant records within an assigned geographic territory, in-state and/or out-of-state travel may be required during the fall and spring.


Function Research
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Collect and interpret data with the direction of Associate Director to produce annual travel and campus tour reports. Assist in long range planning and goal setting for related campus tours.
