Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Technician B to join our team in a full-time position to support research within the division of Pediatric Cardiology. Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing technical services to our Division of Cardiology

Responsibilities



  • The Technician B will work both independently and sometimes under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator on various aspects of running, assisting with managing and writing results of basic.
  • Investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular development and regeneration.
  • Using the zebrafish as a model system and expand our studies into the fields of transcriptional regulation, cardiac mechanobiology, and stem cell biology.
  • Will use innovative combination of genetic, live-imaging, single cell genomic, and transgenic approaches.
  • Daily attention to zebrafish husbandry, line maintenance, genotyping, and laboratory management strategies is also required.
  • Will collaboratively with the Technician A and other members in the lab.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training and experience. Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques preferred.


Preferred Qualifications



  • One year of related experience preferred.
