IT@JH EPIC Application Coordinator - Junior Level - Telemedicine

Johns Hopkins Medicine has FIVE levels to its Application Coordinator roles. This enriching and rewarding career opportunity was created to fit a variety of skill sets and talents across IT, Clinical, and Business areas that support our medical communities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with telemedicine leaders at Johns Hopkins Medicine, including providers, nursing, and ancillary services. Responsibilities include implementing and supporting Epic and virtual care solutions for safe and effective clinician care. Analysts will support these tools in both inpatient and outpatient settings across all Johns Hopkins entities. This role offers the opportunity to join a dedicated team committed to high-quality solutions and excellent customer service.

This position represents an opportunity to join our Epic Telemedicine team at one of the three levels described below.

General Position Summary:

The Application Coordinator (AC) participates in the development and design of the application(s) for which the AC is responsible and is required to gain an in-depth knowledge of the assigned Epic module(s).




  1. Demonstrates basic knowledge of computer systems, applications and interfaces as acquired through a degree program in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or Clinical studies.
  2. Exhibits ability to gather the appropriate data and devise and design simple systems solutions to user issues and problems.
  3. Demonstrates ability to devise simple benchmarking metrics to assess system performance.
  4. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the clinical or business operations functions.
  5. Demonstrates attention to detail in data gathering, specifications development and documentation and record keeping.
  6. Communicates effectively with users, colleagues and developers.
  7. Demonstrates basic degree of analytical skill.
  8. Works under direct supervision in support of team initiatives.



Required Job Qualifications for Application Coordinator Associate Roles:

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or Clinical studies. A GPA of 3.5 or better.

Certifications: Required to complete and pass certification in assigned EPIC application module(s) within 120 days of employment in this role.

Experience:

Work experience in a professional environment as obtained through an internship or fellowship program.

Preferred Job Qualifications for Application Coordinator Associate Roles:




  • Knowledge of implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization as obtained through the candidate's field of study.


  • Knowledge of the current healthcare environment as obtained through the candidate's course of study is preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA's):




  • Ability to handle analysis, design, system configuration and testing tasks at a basic level of complexity.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal quality teamwork and education
  • Strong organizational skills in managing priorities
  • Uses critical thinking skills for assigned tasks
  • Detailed understanding of clinical/business operations workflows and system configuration gained by participating in validation sessions with project team members and assisting in system design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, with proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Project.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles as obtained through the candidate's field of study.



Required Job Qualifications for Application Coordinator I Roles:

Education: Baccalaureate degree, education or health related field with educational courses. Professional certification(s) and/or related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement on a two years' experience-for-one year education basis.

Experience:




  • One year operational experience in a clinical or healthcare business operations setting or one year experience in Information Technology.
  • General understanding of the work flows in clinical or healthcare business operations.



Preferred Job Qualifications for Application Coordinator I Roles:




  • Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization.
  • Epic certification in the module(s) being represented.
  • Experience in Epic installations.


  • Knowledge of the current healthcare environment preferred.
  • Experience in developing business and/or clinical workflows related to the assigned application module.



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA's):




  • Ability to handle analysis, design, system configuration and testing tasks at a low level of complexity.
  • Ability to incorporate policies, procedures, and specific clinical practice and/or business processing needs into information systems training
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships that foster optimal quality teamwork and education
  • Strong organizational skills in managing multiple priorities
  • Uses critical thinking skills regarding use of the clinical/business operations software applications
  • Detailed understanding of clinical/business operations workflows and system configuration gained by participating in validation sessions with project team members and assisting in system design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, with proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Project desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical design techniques for related software applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles as they relate to assigned tasks.



Required Job Qualifications for Application Coordinator II Roles:

Education:

Baccalaureate degree, education or health related field with educational courses. Professional certification(s) and/or related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement on a two years' experience-for-one year education basis.

EPIC Certifications:

Required to complete and pass certification in assigned EPIC application module(s) within 120 days of employment in this role.

Experience:

Application Coordinator II




  • Two years operational experience in a clinical or healthcare business operations setting or two years' experience in Information Technology.
  • General understanding of the work flows in clinical or healthcare business operations.



Preferred Job Qualifications for Application Coordinator II Roles:




  • Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization.
  • Epic certification in the module(s) being represented.
  • Experience in Epic installations.
  • Knowledge of the current healthcare environment.
  • Experience in developing business and/or clinical workflows related to the assigned application module.


Salary Range: Minimum 28.77 per visit - Maximum 50.36 per visit. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
