Job Summary

Under the supervision of a Clinical Research Coordinator or Principal Investigator (PI), the incumbent will perform entry-level duties related to the support and coordination of clinical studies, and may receive training and development to prepare and advance for journey-level work at the next level within the series.

The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator will work on studies evaluating factors contributing to accelerated cognitive and functional decline in older adults with Major Depressive Disorder and other psychiatric illnesses. Factors to be evaluated include genetic risk factors, MRI measures of cortical volume loss, and Positron Emission Tomography measures of amyloid and tau deposition. Outcome measures include clinical measures of cognition, disability, as well as measures of functional status obtained remotely and unsupervised through online data collection.

Duties include updating flow sheets, data forms and source documents; gather and interpret medical, surgical and laboratory data regarding clinical trial subjects; apply understanding of inclusion/exclusion eligibility criteria for protocols; help recruit, enroll, register, schedule and retain study subjects; record protocol specific treatments and assure collection and shipment of samples; keep patients on study schedules; complete study forms to submit to sponsors and/or appropriate agencies; collect, enter and clean data into study databases, maintaining data quality; assist with data analysis; assist with preparation of reports and tables; attend team meetings; and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities or equivalent experience/training
• Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment; project management and coordination skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines on concurrent projects.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, co-workers, & physicians.
• Experience with geriatric, medical, or public health patient populations.
• Basic knowledge of social science research design.
• Research interviewing experience with structured psychiatric instruments, cognitive assessments, and/or disability measures.
• Recruitment experience with psychiatric patient populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or Neuroscience
• Demonstrated proficiency with medical terminology.
• Experience working with patients or study subjects.
• Prior experience with use of neuropsychological, psychological and disability measures in older adults
• Knowledge about and previous experience with mental health issues in older adults.
• Knowledge of local mental health facilities and resources.
• Knowledge of relevant literature regarding older adults, Hoarding Disorder, and Late Life Depression.
• Experience/interest working in diverse, community settings.
• Clinical education/experience.
• Experience with SPSS statistical package.
• Experience scheduling neuroimaging scans and neuroimaging protocols
