Reporting to our VP of Accounting, our Tax Manager will have a passion for tax compliance and tax planning and will focus on helping to provide strategic insights and recommendations needed for growth and scalability. This is a high impact, key role in the global finance function, which oversees all aspects of domestic and international tax planning, accounting, and compliance. This position requires a strong proficiency in U.S. federal tax law, state sales tax compliance, tax accounting and the ideal candidate will have an aptitude for identifying inefficiencies and implementing technological solutions to improve and streamline departmental processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with partnership. The Tax Manager will work closely with the Insomnia's leadership team to provide valuable tax-related insights and recommendations.

Job Responsibilities:
    • Maintain tax calendar of all tax filing requirements in accordance with federal, state and local tax regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. federal and state and international tax laws, regulations and compliance requirements, including filing of income tax returns.
    • Manage coordination of tax consultants and advisors.
    • Prepare/review annual gross receipts tax returns, personal property tax returns, business privilege tax returns and any other local tax returns for operating companies.
    • Management of all sales tax accuracy ensuring compliance.
    • Managing VAT Tax filings and reporting.
    • Coordination of extensions and estimated federal and/or state tax payments.
    • Manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
    • Conduct research and analyze federal, international, and state and local tax issues. Perform analysis of changes in tax legislation and provide recommendations to management as necessary.
    • Prepare state apportionment calculations / data extraction
    • Review sales tax returns & reconcile the Sales Tax Payable Balance sheet account monthly.
    • Coordinate and review fixed asset depreciation.
    • Assist the Finance team with tax budgets.
    • Assist VP of Accounting with the development and implementation of tax planning strategies including domestic and international cash tax management, corporate transactions, and other tax considerations related to corporate strategy.
    • Coordinate with treasury to ensure proper calculation and payment of partnership distributions.
    • Ensure appropriate business licenses are maintained for US operations.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in tax manage, assist with tax automation opportunities, tax technology tools, and process improvements to drive efficiencies within the tax function
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
    • Minimum 5+ years partnership or corporate tax experience, at least two years of public accounting experience required.
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.
    • CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred.
    • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
    • Solid technical skills related to federal and state tax concepts.
    • Experience with international tax concepts such as VAT, legal entity restructuring, tax planning, and transfer pricing a plus.
    • Ability to drive change and optimize processes specifically with tax reporting and compliance.
    • Ability to develop and maintain business partnerships.
    • Professional and effective verbal and written communication.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
    • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Experience with Sage is preferred.
    • Experience with tax compliance and accounting software.
