Position Title: Quality Assurance Technician

Department: FSQA: BUD VA-Production

Employment Status:
Non-Exempt

Manager Title: FSQA Manager

Work Location: Bessemer City, NC

Pay Range: $18.40 + .45 Shift differential

What You'll Do

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • Responsible for ensuring that all food quality processes align with the company's compliance with food safety standards



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide production support in all aspects of the Dole quality process
  • Do quality checks including bag seal, oxygen level, proportions, bag weight, raw materials Check equipment to verify accuracy
  • Maintain reports and system log entries
  • Complete food safety checks to meet all critical control points
  • Place and remove "Hold" statuses as required for raw, in-process, and finished goods
  • Receive and inspect raw (such as vegetables) to make sure they are aligned with the company policy and procedure.
  • Support Master pack rework as needed
  • Any and all other duties assigned by your supervisors
  • Check, master pack check, and finished goods check

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.



REQUIRED SKILLS, CAPABILITIES, EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in a food processing facility is required.
  • Completion of the FSQA Technician competency exam or demonstrated external FSQA experience is required.
  • Good oral communication skills are required.
  • Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment is essential.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Must also maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with coworkers, and understand and follow posted work rules and procedures.
  • Flexibility is necessary to work any shift based on workload demands.



SAFETY/GMP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in accordance with company policy
  • Follow company safety rules, report workplace hazards or injuries immediately, and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be prepared to work a variety of shifts and fulfill overtime requirements as necessary, including some weekends.

  • Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia are present.
  • Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved footwear and protective equipment.
  • Moving machinery, including conveyors and forklifts, will be in operation in the immediate area.
  • Workplace environment may contain or encounter common allergens, such as Milk, Peanuts, Egg, Fish, Shellfish, Tree Nuts, Wheat, Soybeans, Sesame, Mustard and Sulfites.
