Positionn Summary:

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager in Production Engineering, the Global Engineering Systems Administrator serves as Engineering's functional administrator, platform owner, and technical subject matter expert for G&W Electric's mechanical and electrical design platforms, including Creo Parametric, EPLAN, related visualization tools, and associated integrations with Windchill and downstream business systems. The role works directly with engineers, designers, manufacturing users, and site representatives to understand needs, resolve functional issues, improve workflows, increase adoption, and ensure that engineering platforms deliver measurable value. The position owns Engineering-side application administration, configuration, functional testing, user enablement, engineering standards, application usage, and continuous improvement, and partners with IT and other enterprise support functions where infrastructure, security, deployment, integration, licensing, vendor governance, or technology lifecycle support is required.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Engineering's functional administrator, platform owner, and technical subject matter expert for Creo Parametric, EPLAN Electric P8, EPLAN Pro Panel, and applicable visualization tools, with accountability for functional performance, usability, adoption, and measurable Engineering value.
  • Establish and maintain regular engagement with engineers, designers, manufacturing users, and site liaisons to identify needs, gather feedback, resolve functional issues, prioritize improvements, communicate changes, and evaluate user satisfaction and adoption; translate insights into platform enhancements, standard work, user guidance, and role-based training.
  • Own Engineering functional requirements and business-process outcomes for interfaces between Creo/EPLAN and Windchill, ERP, manufacturing applications, and related Engineering systems. Lead functional testing, troubleshooting, data validation, and user acceptance, coordinating with IT, PLM administration, and other responsible technical teams for integration architecture, development, monitoring, and production support.
  • Define and maintain Engineering application configuration standards, templates, libraries, functional settings, and requirements. Ensure that supported versions, deployment methods, access models, workstation specifications, and enterprise technology standards meet Engineering workflow, performance, usability, and business-continuity needs; coordinate implementation with the appropriate enterprise support teams.
  • Lead technical workstreams and continuous-improvement initiatives related to engineering platforms; partner with an assigned project manager for schedules, organizational coordination, and change-management activities on major implementations.
  • Own Engineering functional readiness for application upgrades and releases, including requirements, configuration validation, regression testing, user acceptance, communications, training, adoption support, and release readiness.
  • Monitor software usage and license demand, provide forecasts and budget inputs, and coordinate enterprise deployment, infrastructure, security, licensing and commercial, and change-management activities with IT and other responsible support functions.
  • Develop and maintain the Engineering systems functional roadmap based on user needs, business priorities, process performance, platform capabilities, standardization opportunities, adoption, technical risk, and lifecycle requirements. Align the roadmap with engineers, manufacturing stakeholders, site liaisons, PLM administration, IT, vendors, and leadership as appropriate.
  • Administer Engineering-controlled library content, configuration, synchronization, naming conventions, and functional standards; partner with designated Engineering owners on approved content, design philosophy, engineering rules, and technical acceptance. Define user access and deployment requirements and coordinate implementation through established enterprise processes.
  • Own the Engineering user experience for supported applications, including functional support, advanced application troubleshooting, workflow effectiveness, support responsiveness, training, adoption, and recurring-issue reduction. Lead functional incident resolution as the Engineering application SME and coordinate infrastructure, identity/access, network, database, cybersecurity, and integration support with the appropriate technical teams.
  • Monitor and report user adoption, satisfaction, training effectiveness, support responsiveness, recurring functional issues, workflow efficiency, platform availability, performance, usage, capacity, backlog, and technical risk; use these measures to recommend priorities and demonstrate Engineering value.
  • Represent Engineering in vendor discussions by defining user and technical requirements, establishing acceptance criteria, contributing to technical scopes of work, documenting and escalating issues, validating delivered solutions, and evaluating product capabilities, roadmaps, alternatives, and obsolescence risks. Coordinate contracts, commercial negotiations, and formal vendor governance through the responsible enterprise functions.
  • Maintain configuration records, validation evidence, support procedures, known-issue documentation, recovery plans, administrator playbooks, and training materials; establish cross-training and backup coverage for critical functions.
  • Support global adoption through designated site liaisons, planned communications, and time-zone-aware support coverage; track regional adoption, deviations, system performance, and support needs.
  • This is an Engineering systems administration and platform-ownership role accountable for Engineering application configuration, functional administration, user experience, requirements, testing, support, enablement, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with IT, which retains responsibility for enterprise technology governance and services supporting Engineering applications, including architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, identity/access, integrations, software deployment, change management, licensing, contracts, vendor governance, and technology lifecycle management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience administering enterprise CAD, ECAD, PLM-connected, or other engineering software in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience supporting global or multi-site engineering platforms, deployments, users, and standardized configurations.
  • Experience with enterprise application configuration, deployment, testing, validation, upgrades, enhancements, release management, and incident resolution.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling, electrical design, CAD data, product structures, parts libraries, revision control, BOM outputs, and engineering release processes.
  • Proficiency with standard business-productivity and collaboration tools.
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based enterprise applications and their client, server, database, access, and deployment dependencies sufficient to define Engineering needs and collaborate effectively with responsible technical support teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage technical users, understand workflow and usability needs, translate feedback into sustainable requirements and prioritized improvements, and collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, PLM administration, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to facilitate technical decisions, document options and tradeoffs, escalate risk, and present recommendations to technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, coaching, and training skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate changes, support users, and drive sustained adoption across technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Demonstrated technical workstream leadership, prioritization, participation in vendor technical engagements, risk management, and cross-functional execution skills.
  • Direct experience with Creo Parametric or a comparable MCAD platform and EPLAN or a comparable ECAD platform.
  • Experience creating system documentation, administrator procedures, training content, and backup support capability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Windchill or another PLM-connected CAD environment, JD Edwards or another ERP platform, design-automation software, and manufacturing-system integrations.
  • Technical leadership or platform ownership experience in a global engineering environment.
  • Experience with PowerShell, scripting, APIs, automation, Power Apps, Power Automate, or comparable low-code tools.
  • SQL or database concepts and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience defining user and technical requirements, forecasting license demand, evaluating solutions, establishing acceptance criteria, and providing technical input for vendor scopes of work.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity, access control, business continuity, and disaster-recovery considerations for Engineering applications.
  • Relevant EPLAN, PTC/PLM, Agile, PMP, Lean, or change-management certifications.
