Seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to lead research working in quantitative ecology, using big datasets (e.g.
GBIF, eBird, Movebank), remote sensing data,
GIS tools and quantitative/spatial approaches including machine learning to understand how wildlife species are reacting to climate change at continental or global scales. Specific project ideas could include (but are not limited to) developing/applying new approaches to improve range shift projections under climate change, regionally modelling organism-environment interactions across species ranges, estimating trends in range or phenological shifts and niche loss (climate or habitat), or applying individual movement data to understand animal movement following disturbance. |

Qualifications

PhD in Ecology, Geography, Environmental Science, Biology, Computer Science or related fields as of December 2026. |

Work with birds is preferred for certain projects but other terrestrial taxa can certainly be considered. |

Applicant must be a strong writer and quantitatively skilled with experience using
GIS tools and statistical software, ideally R, and could have a PhD in one of several fields including ecology, biology, environmental science, geography, or computer science. |

| Overview |
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the undergraduate schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions.
