UI/UX Developer

Position Summary

Precise Software Solutions Inc. is seeking a UI/UX Developer to design and build intuitive, accessible, human-centered interfaces for secure AI-enabled applications for the U.S. Government. You will turn complex AI capabilities, such as chat assistants, document processing, and decision-support dashboards, into experiences that users trust. Every interface you build will meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.

• Must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and be able to work on-site at Government offices.
• Must be USC/GC/EAD and be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 background investigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop user interfaces for AI-enabled applications, dashboards, and workflows, from user research, wireframes, and prototypes through visual design, interaction design, and production front-end code.
• Build responsive, reusable front-end components (e.g., React or Angular with TypeScript) aligned with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and agency digital experience standards.
• Design AI-specific user experiences, including conversational interfaces, source citations, confidence cues, and clear labeling of AI-generated versus human-verified content.
• Design human-in-the-loop review screens that let users approve, override, reject, or escalate AI outputs with documented rationale.
• Ensure all interfaces meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA, test them with assistive technologies using DHS Trusted Tester methods, and prepare an ACR/VPAT for each release.
• Plan and run usability assessments with users, and use the findings, user feedback, and 21st Century IDEA guidance to refine designs.
• Develop user adoption and training materials, including user guides, job aids, and release guidance, and support user enablement and helpdesk activities.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, product owners, and stakeholders in two-week Agile sprints, and take part in design, code, and accessibility reviews.
• Keep designs, code, and documentation in Government-approved repositories, using Government-furnished or open-source design tools.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for the degree.
• 5+ years of hands-on UI/UX design and front-end development experience, with a portfolio showing research-driven, accessible designs.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and a modern front-end framework (e.g., React or Angular).
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Penpot) and in wireframing, user flows, and design systems.
• Demonstrated experience building interfaces that conform to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 A and AA, and testing with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
• Experience planning and conducting usability testing and turning findings into design improvements.
• Experience working in Agile teams using Git and Jira.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
• Must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and be able to work on-site at Government offices.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, and 7+ years of experience, including support of federal agency programs.
• DHS Trusted Tester certification or an IAAP accessibility certification (e.g., CPACC, WAS).
• Experience designing user experiences for AI products, such as chat assistants, RAG search, or agentic workflows.
• Experience with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and 21st Century IDEA requirements.
• Experience with data visualization libraries (e.g., D3, Chart.js) and dashboard design.
• An active NACI Tier 1 or prior federal background investigation.
