Job Summary
At Prevea Health the Sonographer in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) is responsible for preparing patients and equipment and performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations as ordered by supervising providers to produce maternal fetal medicine imaging. This role produces high-quality ultrasonic images (2D and/or 3D) of internal organs, tissues, and vascular structures to assist physicians in diagnosis and patient care. The sonographer ensures exams meet quality standards, documents findings appropriately, and supports patient safety throughout the imaging process.
What you will do
- Complete provider requested examinations by operating ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of the motion, shape, and composition of blood, organs, tissues, or bodily masses, such as fluid accumulations.
- Prepare patients for examination including the rooms and necessary equipment.
- Provide preliminary report/comments of sonography examinations for use by the interpreting physician.
- Review sonography examination results to make sure they meet facility standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation.
- Clean, check, and maintain sonographic equipment, submitting maintenance requests or performing minor repairs as necessary.
- Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information to the interpreting physician.
- Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information.
Education Qualifications
- Education in an approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program. Required
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years Maternal fetal medicine experience. Required
Skills and Abilities
- Able to operate Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS)
- Knowledge of ultrasound physics, anatomy, and scanning techniques.
- Ability to operate and maintain ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to image quality and patient safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
Licenses and Certifications
- Sonographer certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in obstetrics (OB) Upon Hire Required
- Fetal Echo (FE) certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 1 Year Required
- CPR/Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification issued by American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
