Lecturer Pool - Online MPH Program - School of Public Health

The School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) invites applicants to a pool of qualified temporary Lecturers to teach courses in online education formats and Lecturers in lieu of GSIs to support courses in online education formats. The teaching includes fall, spring, and summer online course instruction in the Online Master of Public Health program. Screening of applicants is ongoing, and the number of available positions varies throughout the year.

Lecturer duties:

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor of record is responsible for the overall governance of the course. Duties include preparing course materials (e.g., syllabi, instructional videos, coordinating with guest lecturers, ensuring learning outcomes and assessments align with CEPH requirements), holding office/discussion hours, assessing student work and assigning grades, responding to email, coordinating the teaching team (e.g., supervising academic student employees), meeting with program directors for course support and evaluation, and maintaining the course website in partnership with an instructional designer.

Lecturer in lieu of GSI duties:

Working closely with the instructor of record, a Lecturer in lieu of GSI's duties include assisting in course material preparation, coordinating with Instructional Designers in reviewing online course features/materials, facilitating or assisting in facilitating asynchronous and synchronous discussion forums, and other activities customarily related to instructional assignments (e.g., grading assignments, submitting/maintaining student records, responding to student questions/email, holding regular office hours, attending weekly/regular teaching team meetings).

Please note that the existence of a pool does not guarantee a position will be filled.
