Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect and Lead Data Engineer to define and implement the secure, traceable technical foundation for enterprise performance reporting. This hands-on position owns technical architecture, source-system mapping, canonical data models, physical lineage, integration patterns, ETL pipelines, APIs, and operational controls. The successful candidate will lead technical reviews, write and review production code, and submit architecture, security, and deployment decisions for Government review and approval.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess approved source systems and define the supporting data architecture, models, mappings, integration requirements, and technical lineage.
• Translate approved business measures and user needs into technical requirements, validation rules, and acceptance criteria.
• Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot secure ETL pipelines and APIs that connect source systems, enterprise data platforms, and business intelligence products.
• Develop production-quality SQL and application code for data integration, transformation, validation, orchestration, and API services.
• Apply security, reliability, testing, source-control, configuration-management, deployment, monitoring, and recovery practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Lead technical reviews and coordinate architecture, security, integration, and deployment decisions with Government technical authorities and data owners.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or another relevant technical field
  
  
  
  
• Skills & Competencies:
  
  
  
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data architecture, systems integration, data engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience designing data architectures, data models, mappings, and integrations across complex source systems.
  • Strong SQL and programming skills, with hands-on experience developing data pipelines, APIs, or other integration solutions.
  • Experience implementing secure data solutions in Federal, regulated, or similarly controlled environments.
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices, including source control, code review, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, resolve complex data and integration issues, and explain technical decisions to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 or more years of relevant experience, including hands-on technical leadership on a Federal data modernization or analytics program.
• Experience with cloud data platforms, enterprise data warehouses, streaming or event-driven integrations, and business intelligence environments.
• Experience with PKI, OAuth2, smart-card authentication, and Federal security controls.
• Experience supporting authorization, assessment, or continuous-monitoring activities for Federal information systems.

Preferred Certifications

• Data architecture, cloud architecture, data engineering, DevSecOps, API, or security certification.
• Role-based cybersecurity certification or training when required by assigned duties.

Clearance:

• Active Secret Security Clearance.

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $85,030 - $95,020. This range is a good-faith estimate and not a guarantee of compensation. Final compensation will be based on factors including experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, market data, and applicable contract requirements, and may fall outside the posted range.
