The Clinical Nurse 2 (Registered Nurse) will be responsible and accountable for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provide care to these patients using the nursing process in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. The clinical nurse performs in the professional role as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA); engaging in activities related to ethics, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality improvement, leadership, collaboration, professional practice evaluation , resources utilization, environmental health, and patient advocacy as appropriate to clinical nursing practice.

Key duties include:

• Preparing patients for medical examination including taking medical history, performing health-screening tests, lab tests, giving injections and emergency procedures when necessary.
• Providing health education and health assessment for patients, per nursing protocols.
• Assisting with dispensing of medications, as needed.
• Triage medical problems over the phone and in person.
• Provide nursing consultation and serve as a resource for staff, students, and volunteers.
• Informally supervise medical assistants.
• Supervise volunteer student RN's, CMA's, medical students, and clinic assistants.
• Maintain nursing standards to meet licensing requirements.
• Supervising stocking of exam rooms, maintenance of medical supply inventory and equipment and ordering of medical supplies and maintain crash cart.
• Involvement with quality assurance activities, float to other sites as needed, andother duties as assigned.

Salary range: $65.76 - $97.76 hourly

Required:

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing (ASN required for current UCLA Health RN staff)
• Current, active California Registered Nurse License
• Current, active BLS certificate from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Knowledge of FQHC/Community Health Center operations and the unique health care needs of underserved and vulnerable populations
• Ability to complete a Nursing physical assessment
• Skill in developing a plan of care including setting goals, monitoring and documenting progress
• Ability to implement interventions that are pertinent to goals established in the plan of care
• Ability to evaluate the effective of interventions toward the attainment of established goals and to recognize the need to reassess or reset goal parameters
• Ability to delegate tasks in a management style that is consistent with promoting leadership and teamwork
• Knowledge base to provide education to patients, families, and other staff regarding clinical and patient care issues
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient care responsibilities in a high-volume ambulatory care environment while maintaining patient safety, quality of care, and timely follow-up
• Knowledge of ambulatory nursing practices, FQHC workflows, quality improvement initiatives, and population health principles, with the ability to support organizational goals related to access, health equity, patient outcomes, and quality of care
• Knowledge of preventive health guidelines and recommended screenings, including immunizations, cancer screenings, infectious disease prevention, and other age- and risk-appropriate preventive services
• Knowledge of communicable disease prevention, surveillance, reporting, and control, and ability to follow applicable public health requirements and organizational protocols
• Ability to conduct telephone and electronic nursing triage using established protocols to assess patient symptoms, determine appropriate level of care, provide health education, and facilitate timely appointments or follow-up
• Demonstrate experience and proficiency with OCHIN Epic
• Demonstrate phlebotomy experience and competency in performing blood draws on patients across all age groups
