About the Opportunity: Pursuit Aerospace in Thomasville, GA is growing! We are currently hiring CNC Machinists at various levels across multiple shifts. Our CNC Machinists have the exciting opportunity to run multiple machines at a time, including CNC, EDM and manual machines Working under direct supervision, these roles offer the opportunity to work on precision machining, tool adjustments, and minor repairs in a dynamic manufacturing environment, with the potential to grow into more complex operations. Location: Thomasville, GA onsite Shift: Weekend Day Friday - Sunday 7:00am - 7:30pm Shift Differential: Varies by shift Sign-On Bonus: CNC Machinist II and III - $5,000 Responsibilities may include the following, depending on level:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, method sheets, charts, tables, and other process documentation to determine machining requirements and sequence of operations.
- Operate manual and/or CNC machine tools to perform precision machining operations, including turning, milling, boring, and drilling.
- Set up machines and change, set, and adjust precision tools as required based on skill and experience level.
- Compute dimensions and tolerances; measure and lay out workpieces; and consistently maintain required dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
- Inspect and verify parts using precision measuring instruments, gauges, and fixtures to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Learn and apply machinability concepts for various metals, including appropriate feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining techniques.
- Adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed to maintain machining accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
- Identify machine-function, tooling, and dimensional issues and troubleshoot or resolve problems within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and, at more advanced levels, minor equipment repairs.
- Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using appropriate hand and power tools.
- At advanced levels, load, create, modify, and delete CNC programs as required and grind cutting tools and drills, excluding special-purpose tooling.
- At advanced levels, serve as a technical resource or Subject Matter Expert (SME) on multiple machine types and share technical knowledge or provide informal mentorship to less experienced employees.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that supports product quality, inspection accuracy, aerospace cleanliness requirements, and workplace efficiency.
- Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent,
- Required level of experience depends on level of the role:
- CNC Machinist I - No experience required
- CNC Machinist II - At least 3 years of CNC operation experience
- CNC Machinist III - At least 5 years of CNC Operation experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant CNC machining experience, education, and/or training appropriate to the position level:
- Machinist I: 2+ years of CNC operation experience
- Machinist II: 7+ years of relevant machining experience.
- Machinist III: 10+ years of relevant machining experience and/or previous leadership, technical mentoring, or experience supporting the development of less experienced machinists preferred.
- Previous experience in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, machining, or metalworking environments.
- Familiarity with CNC machine tools, machine programming, and troubleshooting, with proficiency appropriate to the position level.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, gauges, and fixtures to inspect machined parts and verify dimensional accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and related manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or other process optimization methodologies.
- Ability to review production information, identify trends or issues, and contribute to process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities and production requirements.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional partners.
- Demonstrated initiative and commitment to developing technical skills and continuing professional growth.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds.
- Visual acuity to inspect precision components
- Tolerance for a manufacturing environment (noise, machinery, oil/coolant exposure)
- Occasional bending, twisting, and reaching during machine operation or maintenance tasks
