THE POSITION

Do you want to protect the elderly? We have a job for you! The Lehigh County Area Agency on Aging is hiring an Aging Care Manager 3 to join our Protective Services Unit. Our team provides specialized casework services to at risk individuals according to protective services legislation, rules, regulations and operating procedures of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This professional position provides protective services and referrals for older adults who are in danger of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or abandonment and who are having difficulty maintaining a safe and healthful independent lifestyle. As an Aging Care Manager 3, you will perform the following duties:

  • Case Investigation: Review and investigate referrals and reports to determine each client's level of risk and eligibility for services
  • Information Gathering: Obtain psychological and medical assessments and financial details from clients, their families, and professional contacts
  • Client Assistance: Provide guidance to older adults and their families to help resolve problems, address client needs, and improve their circumstances
  • Professional Collaboration: Work with other staff, agencies, and community partners through home visits, conferences, and meetings to support effective service delivery
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records, reports, and entries for all case actions, details, and outcomes in the standardized computer system
  • Court Intervention Support: Prepare documentation for cases that may require legal action such as guardianship or other protective interventions


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
  • One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lehigh County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lehigh County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
