What You'll Do As a Database Administrator, you will support the administration, maintenance, optimization, and enhancement of enterprise database environments supporting NASA applications. Our infrastructure includes: Microsoft SQL Server Oracle Database PostgreSQL MySQL Key Responsibilities Administer and maintain enterprise database systems supporting mission-critical applications. Install, configure, upgrade, migrate, secure, patch, and optimize database environments. Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations. Monitor database health, performance, and availability. Support high-availability and disaster recovery architectures. Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance and operational issues. Collaborate with developers, system administrators, engineers, and stakeholders across NASA. Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, shell scripting, or similar technologies. Document procedures, configurations, and operational processes. Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to incidents within established service level agreements (SLAs). Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and modernization efforts. What We're Looking For Required Technical Experience Experience supporting Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or MySQL databases. Strong understanding of database design, development, and integration principles. Knowledge of ANSI Standard SQL and database administration best practices. Experience with: Database installation and configuration Security hardening and patch management Backup and recovery strategies Database migrations and upgrades Performance monitoring and tuning Familiarity with: SQL Server Availability Groups (AGs) Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs) Oracle Data Guard MySQL replication technologies Experience with: Oracle SQL and PL/SQL Microsoft T-SQL Exposure to database administration tools such as: SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) SQL Developer TOAD Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Experience with Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, and Oracle Net Services. Understanding of virtualization, database consolidation, and cloud-ready architectures. Experience supporting Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows environments. Experience with VMware ESXi, SAN/NAS storage environments, and enterprise backup solutions. Professional Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Adaptable to changing requirements and evolving operational priorities. Ability to excel in fast-paced, mission-focused environments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience (equivalent experience considered). 6-8 years of Database Administrator experience. US citizenship or Green Card holder Preferred Experience PowerShell, VBScript, or batch scripting. VMware ESXi environments. SAN/NAS storage technologies. Enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
