Payroll & HR Support Specialist

Salary: $60,000-$70,000 per year

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Lunch: 30-minute paid lunch

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: In Office

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Payroll & HR Support Specialist with a strong background in construction payroll and HR administration.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with construction payroll, certified payroll, union payroll, prevailing wage, and fringe benefit calculations.

This position will manage payroll for approximately 50 employees while also providing HR support, including employee records, onboarding, and payroll-related administration.

Responsibilities

  • Process accurate and timely construction payroll.
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll and prevailing wage reports.
  • Process union payroll, benefit reports, and remittances.
  • Review employee time, job classifications, wage rates, overtime, and fringe benefits.
  • Set up new construction projects, job codes, classifications, wage rates, and reporting requirements.
  • Submit payroll information through government, contractor, union, and third-party portals.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll questions.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and HR records.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and employment documentation.
  • Process payroll-related employee changes.
  • Work closely with project managers, foremen, Accounting, and HR.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.

Requirements

  • Construction industry experience required.
  • Hands-on construction payroll experience required.
  • Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage required.
  • Experience with union payroll and benefit reporting required.
  • HR administration experience, including employee records and onboarding.
  • Knowledge of labor classifications, wage determinations, and fringe benefits.
  • Strong Excel/spreadsheet and payroll system skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage confidential information.
