The Center for Faculty Development and Advancement (CFDA) invites applications from faculty of all ranks for a Midcareer Faculty Success Fellow position. This fellowship provides an opportunity for a faculty member to collaborate with CFDA in designing, launching, and facilitating a cohort-based Midcareer Faculty Success Program.

Midcareer faculty often experience a unique set of opportunities and challenges as they navigate promotion pathways, leadership opportunities, increased service responsibilities, evolving scholarly agendas, and long-term career planning. The Faculty Success Fellow will help create a structured, cohort-based experience (for Spring 2027) that supports faculty in sustaining productivity, enhancing professional fulfillment, building community, and strategically planning the next phase of their academic careers.

The Fellow will have substantial autonomy and flexibility to develop programming, pilot innovative initiatives, and design experiences that address the needs of midcareer faculty while partnering closely with CFDA leadership.

This position requires an estimated commitment of 5-7 hours per week during the academic year.

Midcareer Faculty Success Fellow
What you will do:

Program Design and Development

• Collaborate with CFDA to create and implement a cohort-based Midcareer Faculty Success Program.
• Identify priority topics, goals, and outcomes for participants.
• Design programming that addresses areas such as:
  • Career planning and goal setting
  • Promotion and advancement
  • Scholarly productivity and impact
  • Workload management and prioritization
  • Work-life integration and well-being
  • Leadership development
  • Navigating institutional culture and influence
  • Building networks and collaborations
  • Mentorship and sponsorship
• Faculty vitality and long-term career engagement

Develop program materials, resources, and learning activities.

• Cohort Facilitation and Community Building
• Recruit and support faculty participation in the program.
• Facilitate cohort meetings, workshops, discussions, and reflective activities.
• Foster meaningful peer connections and interdisciplinary networking.
• Create opportunities for faculty to share experiences, strategies, and challenges related to midcareer development.

Innovation and Faculty-Led Programming

• Design and pilot new initiatives that support midcareer faculty success.
• Develop programming aligned with their own interests, expertise, and identified faculty needs.
• Explore emerging best practices and current research on faculty development and career advancement.
• Propose innovative approaches to supporting faculty engagement, productivity, and career satisfaction. Partner with CFDA to translate successful ideas into a sustainable program for midcareer faculty of all ranks.

Assessment and Continuous Improvement

• Develop methods for evaluating program effectiveness and participant outcomes.
• Collect and analyze participant feedback.
• Recommend program enhancements and future directions.
• Assist in documenting program outcomes and institutional impact.

Campus Engagement and Outreach

• Build relationships with faculty, departments, schools, and colleges across campus.
• Promote participation in the Midcareer Faculty Success Program.
• Serve as an advocate for faculty development and career advancement.
• Help identify emerging needs and opportunities for supporting faculty success.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

• Current faculty appointment at the University of Colorado Denver.
• Demonstrated commitment to faculty development, mentoring, or academic career advancement.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines and career stages.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

• Experience mentoring faculty or leading faculty development initiatives.
• Experience facilitating workshops, learning communities, or professional development programs.
• Experience in faculty leadership roles, such as program director, department chair, committee chair, or similar positions.
• Interest in faculty well-being, productivity, engagement, and career development.

Conditions of Employment

• This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
• Current faculty appointment at the University of Colorado Denver.
• Position will last for one academic year

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements

• This position may be performed in a hybrid or remote environment, requiring the ability to work effectively in a remote setting. This includes maintaining a dedicated workspace free of excessive noise or distractions, reliable internet connectivity, and the ability to participate in virtual meetings for extended periods. Employees must be able to independently manage time, remain stationary for prolonged computer-based work, and transport necessary equipment (such as a laptop and peripherals) between their remote work location and the office as needed.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at a $5,000 stipend.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
