Position Overview:
The Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance at our secondary lead recycling facility. Responsibilities involve engaging a wide range of stakeholders including operations teams and regulators. Must be able to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams at all levels. This role will have the ability to act independently with moderate direct supervision. This position reports to the site Environmental Director.
Critical Success Criteria:
- Develop working knowledge of existing operations and processes to aid compliance with relevant regulatory standards
- Support capital project teams by providing environmental input and requirements
- Serve as a technical resource for environmental compliance and continuous improvement to the site operations team
- Support investigations and recommend corrective actions to maintain environmental compliance
Responsibilities:
- Using our Intelex software system, owns the environmental incident reporting and investigation system
- Coordinates environmental testing, audits, inspections, and recordkeeping
- Remains current on the state of the art in environmental control technologies
- Performs data analysis to drive insights into environmental performance opportunities
- Prepares regulatory compliance reports including emissions inventory, periodic air monitoring reports, Greenhouse Gas, and periodic hazardous waste reporting
- Reviews and summarizes technical reports, identifying key takeaways and action items
- Communicates and engages with regulators
- Works with consultants to monitor relevant regulatory changes
- Works with the training department to create and update training documentation
- Responds promptly and effectively to the needs of the business.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited College or University
- 3+ years of previous work experience in an environmental compliance related role with a consulting firm or manufacturing business
- Previous work experience with facilitating regulators and on-site contractors
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to wear a full-face respirator mask directly against skin, work in a hot/high temperature production facility, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation
- Willingness and ability to comply with safety protocols and company-provided decontamination measures
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $99,304 - $163,760. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
