Inova Health is looking for a dedicated Telecommunications Engineer 2 to join the team. This role is Full-time Days working regular office hours Monday to Friday fully Remote.

This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in the following states - VA, MD, DC, DE, FL, GA, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV.

Telecommunications Engineer 2 Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for configuration installation, modification and maintenance of the voice telecommunications systems and services for assigned Inova Health System locations. Monitors the operations of telecommunications systems and services of vendors. Acquires hardware, software, and communication products/services to ensure fully operational network/network applications.

  • Serves as primary programmer for telephone moves, add, or change request; performs on-site installations; tests for connectivity and interoperability; develops project plans.

  • Participates in the recovery from a disaster or major voice network or system outage. Sets up or assists backup and recovery systems.

  • Identifies and suggests/implements solutions for performance and operational problems.

  • Evaluates request for modification of the department phone and telecommunications system and advises key officials of the expected length of time for completion of such projects.

  • Develops project plans and manages projects which lead to timely and successful project completions. Communicates and team status to internal and external audiences to keep project team informed.

  • Prepares detailed specifications and flowcharts for implementation of new internal systems or modifications to vendor systems.

  • Monitors the operations of telecommunications systems and services of vendors and proactively diagnoses and resolves issues in a timely manner. Evaluates, analyzes, administers and maintains voice, data and wireless communications systems. Monitor network and system performance to identify network bottlenecks and trouble situations.

  • Reads and interprets circuit diagrams and electrical schematics.

  • Designs and implements VoIP and PBX systems.

  • Performs all services necessary to install and move telephone and voice connections including, but not limited to, programming software, basic ACD applications, call processing applications and other voice applications.

  • Performs all services to repair and troubleshoot pagers, paging systems, wireless and cordless communications systems and telephone connections. Assists with performance trending, documenting and reporting.

  • Provides 2nd level support to team members. Maintains complete and accurate documentation involving completion of service request, resolutions of issues reported through the customer support line or approved project work requests. Consistently communicates technical issues with other members of the team. Trains and orients end-user staff and provides feedback to manager as appropriate.

  • Trains and orients end-user team members and may train telecom analysts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree OR 4 years relevant professional experience in addition to the minimum Experience requirement
  • Experience: 5 years of Telecom experience
  • Certification: 1 certification - CCENT, CCNP, ACSS, ACIS, Nortel, Avaya ACSS or equivalent within 6 months of hire
