THE POSITION

Make a real difference by helping a busy hospital get what it needs to succeed! As a Purchasing Agent Supervisor with the Department of Human Services, you will support major purchasing activities that keep services safe and reliable. This role gives you the chance to take charge, solve problems, and work closely with many parts of the organization. It is an exciting opportunity for someone who likes fast-paced, hands-on work!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees purchasing activities and leads staff who manage supplies, services, and equipment for the hospital. As a Purchasing Agent Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Leadership: Supervise purchasing agents and clerical employees
  • Contract Oversight: Monitor contract awards and ensure compliance with rules and guidelines
  • Requirement Review: Check purchasing requests for proper coding, accuracy, and correct contract references
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve routine and complex purchasing, delivery, and invoicing problems
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare or review bid specifications and follow purchasing procedures
  • Vendor Coordination: Maintain vendor records and communicate about bids, delivery, and payments

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel and overtime as needed
  • Free parking!
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Purchasing Agent (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Four years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
