As a Health & Safety Specialist, you'll have the responsibility of leading all EH&S activities and ensuring all responsible parties comply with federal state, and corporate requirements and codes. What you'll do:
Lead Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and company regulations for employees, contractors, visitors, and guests. Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees, increasing EH&S awareness, and delivering safety training, meetings, and communications. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; conduct root cause analyses and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Manage and continuously improve the EH&S audit program, including PPE compliance, safety stations, chemical inventories, SDS databases, departmental inspections, and facility audits. Monitor, maintain, and report EH&S performance metrics, risk assessments, hazard identification activities, and the effectiveness of mitigation actions. Support annual EH&S planning and budgeting while participating in cross-functional teams, process improvement initiatives, and Health & Safety Committee activities. Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and standards, including ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 requirements. Coordinate regulatory inspections, audits, emergency response drills, and ensure all EH&S documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with company procedures. Maintain current knowledge of environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices. Serve as the backup for the Safety Management System (SMS) Manager, assuming leadership responsibilities during their absence.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field 2+ years of occupational EH&S related experience Ability to read, speak, write and understand English Ability to sit or stand at least 50% of work shift.
Desired Skills * Previous EHS experience in an industrial environment and/or manufacturing setting * Training and certifications preferred but not required: First Aid, CPR & AED, DOT, 30-hr OSHA, and Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response). * RCRA certified * Communicate effectively and efficiently * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Have a working knowledge of regulatory and legislative policies * Being able to walk to various areas throughout the facility on a daily basis.
