Job Description




As a Security Officer - Literary Resource Center, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. Join a leading team where flexibility meets opportunity. Join Allied Universal as an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a prominent public library location, where you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols, and remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents. In this people-first role, you will support access awareness, assist visitors with professionalism, and bring agile, reliable, and innovative service through teamwork and integrity every day.

Pay Rate: $19.30 / Hour

What You'll Do:

    Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and patrons by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and sharing information with site contacts and/or emergency personnel as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout reading rooms, public areas, staff spaces, entrances, exits, and the surrounding perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and assist with visitor direction, building rules, and crowd flow during busy periods, special events, and/or scheduled programs.
  • Support a welcoming public environment by reporting maintenance concerns, addressing policy-related issues, and helping staff with security-related matters in a professional manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • Comfortable use of a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
