We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Engineering Group Leader Asset Service Engineering team. This role is located in New York, NY. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
Define and execute technology strategy aligned to business priorities, platform modernization goals, and long-term architectural direction. Drive the design of scalable, secure, API-first, and highly maintainable systems that support complex operational workflows and mission-critical processing. Establish and enforce high standards across software engineering, including architecture governance, secure SDLC, testing strategy, CI/CD, release controls, observability, and operational resilience. Partner across product, architecture, operations, risk, and business teams to convert strategic priorities and complex business processes into durable technology solutions. Lead simplification and modernization initiatives across legacy platforms, improving maintainability, reducing technical debt, and increasing engineering efficiency. Build strong engineering governance through design reviews, quality gates, architectural maturity assessments, and production readiness disciplines. Sponsor innovation through the selective application of emerging technologies, including AI/LLM-based document-processing, workflow intelligence, and engineering productivity solutions. Provide senior leadership on risk, controls, escalation management, and delivery accountability in a regulated environment.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred. 15+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, and technology leadership, including significant experience at senior leadership level. Proven success leading large, globally distributed engineering teams in complex enterprise environments. Strong technical background in software architecture, distributed systems, enterprise platform engineering, and modernization of legacy applications. Experience driving engineering excellence across design standards, secure delivery, quality engineering, CI/CD, release governance, observability, and reliability. BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $127,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
