Weld Lead

STS Technical Services is hiring a Weld Lead in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is an opportunity supporting a growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures used to house fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment.

This role is ideal for an experienced welding or fabrication professional with strong leadership skills, attention to detail and the ability to help keep production moving safely, accurately and efficiently.

The Weld Lead will help supervise welding and fabrication operations while ensuring production is completed to specification, quality standards are met and employees work within established safety guidelines.

This position requires hands-on manufacturing leadership experience, strong problem-solving ability and the drive to support a growing production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily activities of MIG Welders/fabricators and delegating job responsibilities to appropriate employees
  
• Train and motivate staff to meet demanding manufacturing requirements and schedules
  
• Assist with tasks as necessary to complete assignments
  
• Test products/equipment for defects/malfunctions
  
• Work in a safe manner
  
• Communicate changes and updates to employees on processes and procedures
  

Qualifications:

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification
  
• Previous experience in a manufacturing facility on the shop floor for minimum of four (4) years
  
• Ability to measure, compare and make simple or complex shop calculations necessary to ensure products are in compliance with engineer or sales specifications
  
• Previous experience working with and reading blueprints
  
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve a variety of situations on the shop floor
  
• Previous experience working with steel a plus
  
• Previous experience leading shop floor employees and motivating them to complete jobs in a timely manner and accurately to specifications
  
• Must be detail oriented to meet the needs of our customers
