Industrial I&C Engineer

Location: Houston, TX 77042

Pay: $60-$70/hour

Schedule: Onsite

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support complex industrial and mission-critical projects in Houston, TX. This contract opportunity is ideal for engineers with expertise in PLC systems, automation, instrumentation, commissioning, controls engineering, and industrial process systems.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop control strategies, functional specifications, and sequence of operations
  • Design and support industrial automation systems, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA integration
  • Create and maintain controls documentation, including P&IDs, I/O lists, loop diagrams, alarm setpoints, and network architecture
  • Support instrument selection and specification for pressure, temperature, flow, level, and control valve applications
  • Review control panel designs, wiring diagrams, and electrical drawings
  • Assist with FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup activities, loop checks, and system validation
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems during installation and startup
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project execution
  • Support technical reviews, procurement activities, and continuous improvement initiatives



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of industrial controls, automation, or engineering experience
  • Strong background in process controls, instrumentation, and commissioning
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, control loops, and industrial networks
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop sheets, one-line diagrams, and wiring drawings
  • Experience with industrial standards such as ISA, NEC, NFPA, and IEC
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project coordination skills



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with process cooling, refrigeration, or hydronic control systems
  • Modular plant construction experience
