Position Overview


Primary Purpose of the Position
The Division of Nursing is seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach didactic and/or clinical in a variety of courses in the Undergraduate Adult Health Area, including Medical-Surgical/Adult Health Nursing, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Health Assessment, Clinical Nursing Foundations, Nursing Research, and Leadership & Management of Care.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: *

  • Planning and providing theoretical and/or clinical instruction and experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the nursing program and profession *
  • Facilitating student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes through varied teaching methods. *
  • Evaluating student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes. *
  • Utilizing feedback from student/faculty evaluations for instructional improvement *
  • Utilization of evidence-based research in teaching and the clinical practice of nursing.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required for adjunct faculty teaching didactic.
  • Clinical Adjunct Only: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Consideration may be given to individuals with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with preparation in teaching and learning principles in nursing education, as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (such as the NC AHEC Clinical Instructor Partner (CIP) Program and/or in the process of completing the CIP Program).
  • Minimum of two years full-time employment in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse (RN) verified by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Work experience and teaching experience in medical-surgical/adult health nursing.
  • Current, unencumbered RN license to practice in the state of North Carolina

  • Minimum of 2 years full-time employment in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse (RN) verified by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

  • Exhibit the ability to engage in interdisciplinary teaching, learning, and scholarly collaboration with the broader constituencies.

  • Current unrestricted RN license to practice in the state of North Carolina.
  • Clinical Adjunct Only: Completion of the NC AHEC Clinical Instructor Partner (CIP) Program if you do not meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing verified teaching requirements.
