Position Summary The Residential Life Administrator (RLA) lives on a floor in an undergraduate academic center and serves as a role model, peer counselor, resource and referral person, advocate, policy enforcer, programmer and leader for a diverse group of U.S. and international students, including students from all three degree-granting campuses (NYU New York, NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai), first-year students in Liberal Studies program, and upperclassmen in the DC Global Leadership Scholars program. The RLA is expected to be aware of and support the goals and objectives of NYU Washington, DC and New York University including an institutional commitment to intercultural learning. Under the supervision of the Residential Life Coordinator and Program Manager for Student Life, RLAs are expected to assist in the development of community, facilitate dialogues around topics of intercultural topics, engage students through various programming, and foster a flourishing community that is conducive to the academic and personal growth of residential students. RLAs provide support in emergencies and times of personal stress, documenting and reporting incidents impacting the wellbeing of residential students. This is a part-time (approx. 25 hours per week), live-in position based in Washington, DC during the academic year (August-May). RLAs are expected to be sufficiently available in the hall to respond to emergency situations that may arise and to maintain frequent contact with residents. A staff member who is not on duty and who plans to leave the hall for more than a 24-hour period (i.e., weekend) must notify and/or obtain prior permission from the Residential Life Coordinator. Qualifications Required Education: Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $19.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
