Summary of Job Duties:The Sterile Processing Educator is an Instrument Technologist who serves as an expert educator with strong knowledge of reprocessing Reusable Medical Equipment(RME). The Educator is responsible for staff education, training, and competencies in various Sterile Processing areas. The Educator ensures that reprocessing activities comply with departmental and hospital policies and are congruent with State Health Department Rules and Regulations, JCAHO standards, HSPA, and AORN and AMMI standards. The Educator is a member of the Sterile Services leadership team and works in collaboration with other team members to support optimal and efficient sterile processes. In addition, the Sterile Processing Educator promotes positive customer relations and an atmosphere of teamwork and professionalism. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 1 year of Sterile Processing experience

  • CRCST/ CBSPD or Sterile Processing Certification within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree

  • 2 yrs or more of Sterile Processing experience

  • Professional License/Certification: IAHCSMM/CBSPD Certified

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Provides accurate documentation concerning staff performance and competencies.

  • Demonstrates understanding and ability to train staff of various types of instrumentation and endoscopes according to manufacturer instructions.

  • Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available in each reprocessing area.

  • Works closely with Infection Prevention to round and perform tracers where RME is utilized.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
