Job Summary

GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new opportunity!

The Instructional Services Coordinator Senior performs fully proficient professional-level, technical, and analytical work in the science laboratories, supporting day-to-day laboratory operations and related functions. This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing program administration and consultation, including planning, coordinating, developing, and implementing related functions, projects, and activities.

Essential Functions

30% - Leads the laboratory operational planning and development, safety and administration of budget, problem-resolution and technical assistance, including, but not limited to science laboratory settings. Collaborating with faculty to develop lab activities to meet course objectives. Primary liaison with division leadership, faculty, vendors, and finance office to maintain efficient and cost-effective laboratory operations for the college

20% - Manages the coordination, set-up, and maintenance for all laboratory needs and learning exercises and experiments including maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies as well as developing operating practices and work standards for laboratory operations as aligned with established standards

20% - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of staff; Participates in hiring, discipline and termination activities when necessary; Provides training and guidance in area of expertise; oversees the maintenance of files, records, program materials and documentation as it pertains to the laboratory

20% - Aligns with policies and procedures for instructional program, monitors program guidelines and ensures compliance with applicable policies, regulations, laws, maintenance/repair schedules of instructional program and laboratory including, but not limited to, the safe and efficient operation of the lab and equipment; maintains an organized and safe lab, following OSHA and federal guidelines

10% - Collaborates and consults with program faculty and staff on program & laboratory design, effectiveness, quality and outcomes, recommends modifications and additions to program; Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in education, organizational development, a STEM field or directly related field and two (2) years of related experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in area of assignment

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered

Desired Qualifications
  1. A Bachelor's degree in a science field
  2. Experience working in an academic laboratory setting and/or providing direct support to STEM faculty
  3. Experience maintaining a budget in a professional setting
  4. Supervisory experience
  5. Experience with (online systems, i.e. Google Suite, CRM, SIS, Canvas, etc.)
  6. One (1) year full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two (2) years (internal candidates ONLY)



Special Working Conditions
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations
  • May require some evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #50 lbs
  • Chemicals may be used that require chemical fume hoods
  • Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood or other body fluids); and moderate exposure to intense noise

  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
