Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Ambulatory Services for the Faculty Practice Group, the Ambulatory Float Team Manager is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the Ambulatory Float Team. This team includes float RNs, LVNs, MAs, and administrative staff. The Manager oversees the assignment and coordination of float staff coverage across UCLA Health ambulatory locations, ensuring timely sameday support on a rotating basis. The incumbent ensures all float staff maintain JCAHO compliance and meet the qualifications required to support clinics systemwide. The role also includes full oversight of Human Resources functions for float pool staff, including onboarding, compliance, and documentation.

The Float Pool Manager collaborates closely with clinic leaders to ensure float operations align with clinical and operational needs. Responsibilities include managing employee relations matters, fostering a positive work environment, and communicating health system and departmental updates in a timely manner. Regular travel to UCLA Health locations is required to provide onsite leadership and support to float team members. Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.

Salary range: $83,800.00/year - $179,400.00/year

Qualifications

Required



  • Ability to write analytical and administrative reports and correspondence, which are clear, concise, logical and appropriate for a variety of audiences
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of research-oriented patient care systems
  • Working knowledge of University policies and procedures to appropriately managerisk management and personnel
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in work production
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle ambiguity in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent tasks and changing priorities
  • Minimum 1 year managerial experience
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working with Ambulatory Nursing, Safety, Security, Skills Management Team, HR, and others on training all employees on necessary skills for role
  • Demonstrate the ability to be flexible, adaptable, accessible, and team-oriented.
  • Systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication effort
  • Writing skills to prepare accurate and concise reports and memorandums that clearly convey information utilizing appropriate vocabulary and grammar
