The Spirit of the Position: The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and operational partner to Transportation and Airport Operations leadership, ensuring a compliant, efficient, and employee-focused workforce. This role integrates HR leadership, regulatory compliance, employee relations, and workforce planning to support DOT-regulated and airport environments while aligning with company policies and client requirements. Compensation: $80-90K, bonus eligible! Position Type: Fully Onsite LAZ also provides additional optional benefits such as:

Key Responsibilities:
- Directly oversee and coordinate 2 HR Administrators, ensuring execution of HR processes and service delivery.
- Coach, develop, and support HR staff and operational leaders to drive consistency and best practices.
- Serve as liaison with SBE and Joint Venture HR leaders to ensure alignment, oversight, and consistent application of progressive discipline.
- Act as primary HR partner between Operations, Safety, Talent Acquisition, and corporate HR functions
- Advise and coach leadership on employee relations, performance management, and progressive discipline.
- Ensure consistent administration of corrective action practices across all partners and workgroups.
- Maintain compliance with DOT, FMCSA, FTA, airport, federal, state, and local labor regulations.
- Manage investigations, audits, and regulatory reviews; ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready.
- Interpret and apply policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements where applicable.
- Develop and implement staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage across operations, including management, drivers, dispatch, maintenance, and support staff.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit, vet, and onboard employees in a timely and compliant manner.
- Ensure compliance with hiring standards, including labor, safety, and airport badging/security requirements.
- Support transition hiring strategies, including offering first right of refusal to incumbent employees to preserve operational continuity.
- Maintain documentation of hiring practices for audit and client review.
- Administer all required training programs, including onboarding, safety, compliance, certification, and customer service training.
- Deliver and document required training such as recurrent training, cross-training, environmental modules, and operational procedures.
- Maintain complete and accurate training records in compliance with airport and regulatory standards.
- Partner with operations to ensure 24/7/365 supervisory readiness and defined chain of command.
- Conduct wage benchmarking and market analysis; provide documented justification of pay levels.
- Deliver workforce analytics, staffing insights, and KPI/SLA reporting to leadership.
- Manage employee records, and compliance documentation.
- Support payroll processes, leave administration (FMLA/disability), and benefits coordination.
- Administer workers' compensation claims and ensure timely reporting and case management.
- Support onboarding, background checks, and employment verification processes.
- Assist with operational transitions, acquisitions, and workforce integration activities.
- Partner with Safety and Operations teams to maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Participate in regulatory audits and compliance reviews.
- Support ongoing compliance with transportation and airport safety standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years HR experience with emphasis on employee relations, compliance, and workforce operations.
- Experience with CBA contracts, knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, FTA preferred.
- Knowledge of labor laws, and HR best practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
