What to Expect
We're looking for a highly motivated equipment technician to manage prototype procurement and planning during early engineering builds for Energy projects. This is a cross-functional role that requires close coordination among different groups internally and externally of Tesla. In this role, you will be immersed in early program design phases, and act as owner to source components during early engineering builds as well as maintain consumables, and equipment servicing. You will also build and leverage strong working relationships with cross-functional partners in engineering and work together with our equipment partners to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met to achieve maximum advantage for Tesla and our customers.
What You'll Do
- Own the Energy labs pilot material, consumables, and equipment servicing and calibration
- Deliver clear-to-build status, material coverage, run-out reports, and other analyses as needed to plan engineering builds
- Build and maintain operational partnerships with vendors. Act as the primary interface with vendors on delivery status, issues, and resolution. Escalate to commercial or technical partners when required (procurement, accounts payable, quality, engineering, etc.)
- Drive commercial cost negotiations with external partners to ensure Tesla receives the best possible pricing and leverage cost models and analysis on current market conditions
- Monitor current market conditions and technology roadmaps to proactively identify and address any procurement challenges and to determine future business opportunities
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years' experience in a lab environment
- Experience in sourcing, manufacturing, or vendor management, with advanced proficiency in MS Excel required
- Strong understanding of discrete manufacturing and bills of material
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision-making or present clear recommendations to leadership
- Demonstrated skills in vendor relationship management
- Passionate and high energy, capable of positively influencing others, both inside and outside of Tesla. Ability to write, speak and present effectively and persuasively
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Flexibility and adaptability are key
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
