Schedule: Monday-Friday | 1:00 PM-10:00 PM

We're seeking an experienced Transit Operations Manager to lead our campus shuttle system, overseeing safe, reliable, and customer-focused transportation services serving nearly 2.5 million passenger trips annually. This is an opportunity to lead a large frontline team, drive operational excellence, and help shape the future of sustainable transportation at UCSF.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of shuttle drivers, dispatchers, and support staff while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and customer service.
  • Manage daily shuttle operations, including routing, scheduling, service reliability, vehicle availability, and performance monitoring.
  • Analyze ridership trends and operational data to improve service efficiency and enhance the rider experience.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, DMV, OSHA, ADA, UC, and other applicable transportation regulations.
  • Lead emergency response planning and operational continuity during service disruptions or critical incidents.
  • Partner with internal departments, vendors, and external stakeholders to improve transportation services and implement new technologies.
  • Oversee vendor performance, service contracts, and operational initiatives that support long-term transportation goals.
  • Manage budgets, staffing resources, and operational priorities while continuously identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience or training.
  • 1-2 years of management experience.
  • Current Commercial Class B license with Passenger Endorsement and medical certificate.
  • Solid knowledge of transit service operations, policy and regulatory compliance, and commercial passenger transportation licensing requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, active listening, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and administrative analysis applications.
  • Strong defensive driving, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising union or represented staff.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, DMV, and OSHA regulations.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, route planning, and fleet software systems.

Salary Information


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
