Summary:

Make a difference. Presbyterian is seeking a Medical Assistant III to support Primary Care providers through electronic in-basket management within EPIC. This role focuses on MyChart messaging, electronic medication prior authorizations, referral coordination, and patient communication. This is a non-direct patient care position with responsibilities completed primarily through EPIC and phone-based support.

Responsibilities:

In-Basket & Administrative Support

  • Manage provider in-basket messages within EPIC
  • Respond to and route MyChart patient communications appropriately
  • Complete electronic medication prior authorizations
  • Process referrals, diagnostic requests, and related documentation
  • Manage patient forms including FMLA, Advanced Directives, and other required paperwork
  • Monitor and manage test results and provider messages
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and follow-up coordination
  • Support patient communication through phone calls and electronic messaging

Patient Support & Communication

  • Provide excellent customer service while communicating with patients electronically and by phone
  • Communicate pertinent patient information to providers and care teams
  • Educate patients on basic follow-up instructions and workflows as directed
  • Maintain professionalism, empathy, and accuracy in all patient interactions

Team & Operational Support

  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary care teams to support clinic operations
  • Assist with workflow efficiency and message management processes
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and clinic goals
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Four years of MA experience required
  • Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training required
  • National MA Certification preferred
  • Successful completion of Preceptor class required within 90 days of hire
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant or a Certified Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school preferred
  • BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required
  • Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (i.e. BLS)
  • Completes all Organizational, Department of Nursing and Department-Specific competency training/requirements within specified timeframe
