Associate General Counsel - Insured Litigation (VP)

Remote Georgia

$250,000- $270.000 DOE

This role is bonus eligible

The Associate General Counsel - Insured Litigation is responsible for, and manages, all medical malpractice, general liability, aviation liability and workers compensation pre-litigation and litigation matters for Global Medical Response and its subsidiaries, including coordination with third party administrators, insurance carriers, outside counsel and employees.

Responsibility:

  • Approve and manage outside counsel
  • Prepare and review correspondence with insurance carriers
  • Coordination between outside counsel and employees
  • Assist with collection of data for discovery responses
  • Prepare, or review and approve, discovery responses
  • Provide sound and practical legal advice to operations and support departments
  • Conduct legal research on diverse substantive matters as needed
  • Review, assess and resolve liability complaints, threats, claims, and the management of litigation
  • Develop and lead risk management legal process and risk mitigation improvements
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the company services/solutions and business models

Professional Qualifications:

  • The position requires a Juris Doctor degree with strong academic credentials,10 years of relevant legal experience, and admitted and in good standing in any jurisdiction with authorization to practice law in Texas or Colorado
  • The successful candidate will be a highly credible legal executive with a strong track record working effectively in a world-class organization (either a corporate role or as outside counsel)
  • Significant experience in medical malpractice, general liability, aviation liability and workers compensation litigation
  • Ability to synthesize complex issues and provide straightforward, practical solutions to business partners and carry that advice through implementation
  • Strong analytical skills, work ethics and sound legal judgment
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities; ability to simplify complex technical information and communicate in a clear, concise and compelling/persuasive manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with internal stakeholders and clients
  • A practical approach, focusing on being a business partner, team member, facilitator, and collaborator
  • Experience managing by influence with related professionals; helping teams to accomplish goals through strong discipline in the execution of strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills, and a proven record of driving for and achieving results
  • Demonstrated business acumen, including the ability to see the "big picture" as well as the relationship of very detailed and specific legaland business issues
  • A thoughtful, articulate and effective communicator who can distill and articulate the important aspects of contracting issues to a wideaudience of participants
