Requisition Summary
PACCAR iscurrently seeking a Buyer to join our North America Materials team. This position is available to be located in Kirkland, WA or Denton, TX.
Job Responsibilities
- Place orders with suppliers for production material to be used in the assembly of trucks at four manufacturing plants.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Suppliers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that all material arrives at the plants according to guidelines.
- Determine production requirements for assigned groupings of manufactured or purchased parts.
- Issue purchase and/or manual orders to suppliers to meet manufacturing schedules and maintain proper inventory levels and navigate material planning issues.
- Host conference calls with internal and external personnel to resolve supply chain disruptions and EDI discrepancies.
- Plan and coordinate introduction of new parts and reduce current inventory in conjunction with Plant/Division Engineering, Materials and Purchasing personnel, Marketing, and Assembly.
- Forecast orders during times of low visibility utilizing various reporting.
- Negotiate delivery, expediting, or other special charges with and suppliers.
- Serve as a focal point for Materials' supplier management, monitor supplier quality, service, and delivery issues.

- Communicate and escalate issues, information, and resolution to Materials Planner at the plant(s) and/or Corporate Commodity Manager, Directors, and Senior Leadership.
- Provide allocations for highly constrained material across multiple production facilities to prevent impacts to production.
- Work independently to resolve difficult supply chain and material planning situations.
- Initiate and establish EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) programs in cooperation with Materials Planners at the plants, PACCAR MIS and Kenworth suppliers.
- Maintain EDI working set for use by Kenworth & Peterbilt suppliers and plant planners.
- Negotiate packaging, sub-assembly, and program charges with suppliers.
- Establish and improve JIT (Just-in-Time) and material flow improvement programs with Assembly, Accounting, Materials, and suppliers.
- Review inventory levels for excess, surplus, or obsolete accumulations and initiate or recommend disposal.
- Coordinate special projects/programs as required.
- Up to 10% travel can be expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 2-3 years of experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- APICS certification in one or more of the following disciplines is preferred: CPIM, CIRM, and CSCP.
- Experience with Kanban and "Lean Material Handling" is preferred.
- Team player with excellent leadership, technical and communication skills.
- Competency in the use of personal computer software including word processing, excel, access databases and Tableau.
- Candidates should have a willingness to grow personally and professionally and be results oriented.

The salary range for the PACCAR North America Materials Buyer is $70,500 - $105,800 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
