What You Will Do

As a Risk Analyst Intern, you will work with experienced professionals who help businesses understand and optimize risk and reward. You will gain exposure to multiple risk disciplines, including credit risk, market risk, insurance risk, and broader enterprise risk management activities.

Our interns contribute to meaningful projects while developing their understanding of risk analysis, financial markets, economic decision-making, and data-driven business solutions. In addition to project work, interns explore Koch's Principle Based Management philosophy, collaborate with interns across functions, engage with business leaders, and gain exposure to the diverse industries and capabilities within Koch.

Typical Responsibilities May Include:

  • Support investment and trading strategies with risk analysis and statistical modeling
  • Assist in analyzing, monitoring, and estimating market, credit, counterparty, insurance, and operational risk exposures.
  • Prepare and maintain risk reports, dashboards, and analytical tools used to support business decisions.
  • Conduct financial, economic, and quantitative analysis to identify risk and reward tradeoffs.
  • Research market trends, economic conditions, and industry developments that may impact business performance.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges and identify opportunities where analytical solutions can create value.
  • Utilize data, statistical methods, and modeling techniques to quantify and communicate risk exposures.
  • Support the development and improvement of risk management capabilities, processes, and reporting tools.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to business partners in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Assist with insurance-related projects, credit reviews, risk assessments, or market risk analyses depending on business needs.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Eligible for full-time employment no later than Summer 2028.
  • Enrolled in a degree program in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Quantitative Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets, risk management, economics, or data analytics.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to analyze and interpret data.
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or similar platforms.
  • Exposure to programming or analytical tools such as Python, SQL, R, VBA, or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
