University of Wisconsin Platteville is seeking a full time Assistant Baseball Coach to join the Division of Athletics and Recreation. The Assistant Baseball Coach will assist the head coach in the organization, management, and coaching of the university baseball team in conjunction with other departmental responsibilities.

This position has a salary of $31,500 and is benefit and paid leave eligible.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide an overall positive educational environment for our Student-Athletes conducive to learning, athletic development, social growth, and preparing them for life beyond college.
  • Assist in the administration of the entire program; including assisting with daily practices, game responsibilities and alumni relations.
  • Assist the head coach in developing and implementing a comprehensive recruiting strategy, including identifying and evaluating prospects, conducting off-campus and on-campus recruiting activities, coordinating campus visits, and assisting prospective student-athletes throughout the admissions process.Be responsible for the development, safety and conduct of the team.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and strict compliance with all NCAA, WIAC, and University of Wisconsin-Platteville rules, policies, procedures, and regulations and conduct program with regulations.Assist in maintaining baseball and softball fields.
  • Assist in performing both direct and indirect public relations functions including promotion, fundraising, and community instruction through camps and/or clinics.
  • May supervise student staff and/or have budgetary responsibilities as well as assist with travel, schedules, etc. as deemed necessary by the head coach.
  • The secondary duties will be determined on department needs and the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. Examples of secondary duties may include: event management, sports information, writing stories, compliance, fundraising, academics liaison, admissions liaison, student-athlete leadership/development/life skills, equipment, ticket operations, etc.
  • Follow all NCAA, WIAC, and institutional policies and conduct program within those regulations.
  • Compete at the highest level of competition within the WIAC and national level.
  • Meet annual recruitment minimums as set forth by the Athletic Director, if requested.
  • Maintain a GPA and graduation rate at or above the UW-Platteville all-campus Average
  • Engage with UW-Platteville Alumni and communicate with the UW-Platteville Foundation Office for all alumni fundraising events.
  • Department and team community service initiatives are highly encouraged.
  • Assist with departmental needs as requested.
  • When practical under the circumstances, intercollegiate athletic staff are encouraged to voluntarily attend all athletic events to promote audience participation and support for UW-Platteville team efforts.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution

  • Strong administrative organizational skills

  • Written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of computer applications, including that for recruiting

  • Ability to work weekends & evenings and also to travel

  • Strong time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Collegiate experience playing and/or coaching baseball
