About the Position Do you take pride in performing thorough HVAC work and being efficient and effective to ensure maximum operational effectiveness? The HVAC Technician is responsible for identifying repair and replacement needs, installing, repairing, and maintaining the County's HVAC Systems and equipment. The position is located in the downtown area and follows a secondshift schedule. The working hours are Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. About Us As the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities comprised of over 10 million square feet. Facilities Management is made up of a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments. We Require
Three years of journey-level experience in troubleshooting and repair of commercial/industrial air conditioning systems High school diploma or GED Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational education in HVAC may substitute for one year of the experience requirement Must possess an EPA or Universal EPA certification
Other Requirements
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire Must complete a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and MCSO background investigation and TOC certification to access County detention facilities

Job Contributions
Troubleshoot, repair, install, and replace: air dryers, computer room A/C, makeup air units, split package A/C & HP, VAV, VFD, pumps, chillers, air handlers, cooling towers, air wash systems, evaporative coolers, steam and hot water boilers, air compressors, exhaust fans, and gas furnaces Troubleshoot, monitor, operate, and repair computerized and pneumatic facilities automation controls, negative pressure rooms, ductwork and dampers, generator and refrigerant alarms Perform preventative maintenance tasks on the following systems: air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, pumps, steam, and hot water boilers, cooling towers, air wash systems, evaporative coolers, air compressors, exhaust fans, blowers, VAV and VFDs, computer room A/C, air dryers; to include: water treatment, air-water filters, balancing, alignment, inspection and measurement and cleaning of above systems Respond to repair and service calls, emergency work orders, and maintain verbal communications with clients, field technicians, and management staff on emergency calls; monitor and control temperatures utilizing the Facilities Automation System computer Operate computers and mobile devices for time management, inventory, work assignments, and other related functions Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation Special working environments include, but are not limited to: adult and juvenile detention facilities; medical facilities, both detention and public health; forensics; courts; and related justice facilities This position may require a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
