Primary Purpose of Department
The mission of the Athletic Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is to operate within the perspective of the overall educational program. Primary Purpose of Position
As a core member of the executive leadership team, the Deputy Athletic Director - Strategy & Operations is a trusted thought partner to the Director of Athletics, managing the daily operations of the AD's office and driving the execution of departmental priorities. The successful candidate will formally oversee the Athletics Communications unit, track and execute revenue share and NIL parameters, manage the Director of Athletics Dashboard, serve as the primary liaison to the Office of General Counsel, partner on financial oversight, and represent the AD across campus. This role requires exceptional executive maturity and focuses heavily on internal integration and alignment.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
This role will oversee the Athletics Communications unit, track and execute revenue share and NIL parameters, manage the Director of Athletics Dashboard, serve as the primary liaison to the Office of General Counsel, partner on financial oversight, and represent the AD across campus. This role
requires exceptional executive maturity and focuses heavily on internal integration and
alignment.
Minimum Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive leadership experience in collegiate athletics operations, professional sports administration, or complex executive support roles.
  • Proven track record of managing high-level executive operations and preparing C-level or AD-level briefings.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Master's degree in sports administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, NHL) or on the player representation agency side is highly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with Division I student-athletes and understanding the student-athlete experience.
  • Background encompassing varied aspects of athletics administration, including operations, communications, and major event management.
