At Stellantis, our Product Design and Engineering teams are shaping the future of mobility through innovative propulsion systems, advanced electronics, and next-generation vehicle technologies. We are seeking a Senior Propulsion Systems Safety & Diagnostics Engineer to lead the development and integration of functional safety, on-board diagnostics (OBD), and aftersales requirements across propulsion systems.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of functional safety (ISO 26262), emissions compliance, diagnostics strategy, and serviceability, ensuring that vehicle systems meet global regulatory standards while delivering high performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop, define, and own functional safety, OBD, and aftersales requirements for propulsion systems
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety standards and global OBD/emissions regulations (CARB CCR 1968.2, UN R156, Euro 7)
  • Define and implement diagnostic strategies, including DTC definitions and fault monitoring concepts
  • Review and validate supplier diagnostic implementations and system integration
  • Lead validation planning, test execution, issue resolution, and requirements traceability
  • Support safety lifecycle activities, including concept development and certification readiness
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, software, calibration, and supplier teams
  • Contribute to aftersales and serviceability strategy to ensure effective vehicle maintenance and repair


Typical Deliverables:



  • Technical Safety Concepts (TSC) and safety requirements documentation
  • Diagnostic strategies, fault detection logic, and DTC definitions
  • Diagnostic matrices and technical specifications
  • Safety analyses (HARA, FTA, FMEA, FMEDA)
  • Validation plans, test reports, and compliance documentation
  • Aftersales service and diagnostic documentation


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Min 5 years of experience in automotive systems, propulsion or embedded control systems
  • Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262), diagnostics, and OBD regulations (CARB CCR 1968.2, UN156, Euro 7)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced engineering degree
  • Experience in powertrain systems (ICE, hybrid, electrified)
  • Experience with diagnostic development, calibration tools, or validation (HiL)
  • Familiarity with Agile, ASPICE, or AUTOSAR
  • Experience working with suppliers and global regulatory processes
