Military Flight Controls Division Supporting aircraft worldwide, Parker Aerospace's Military Flight Controls Division (MFCD) provides primary and secondary flight control systems that make flight possible. Tested, proven and trusted in commercial and military applications for decades, MFCD provides precise position-control actuation solutions for military aircraft across the United States and with foreign partners. The division's JetPipe electrohydraulic servovalve (EHSV) technology is used across commercial and military aircraft around the world. Headquartered in Irvine, California, the Military Flight Controls Division is the global leader in fly-by-wire flight control systems and electrohydraulic products and offers the world's most advanced motor design capabilities for flight controls.

Position Summary

The Quality Leader supports the operations of the location by overseeing day-to-day quality operations, supervising quality personnel, and ensuring products/processes meet internal standards and customer/regulatory requirements. This role translates quality policies into executable shop floor and operational activities, drives corrective actions, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.

As management's representative for quality, manages department resources and coordinates the implementation of the quality management system to cost-effectively facilitate quality and compliance. Interacts routinely with all functional areas as well as with customers, field sales, regulatory agencies, division/group/corporate management, and suppliers. Directly supervises quality inspectors/technicians on the production floor.

Responsibilities

QMS Ownership and Compliance

  • Owns and drives adherence to Parker Quality Process (PQP) methodologies and principles through deployment of PQP tools within the site.
  • Execute and sustain the site QMS (e.g., ISO 9001 or applicable standards), including internal audits, document control, training, and management review inputs.
  • Ensure effective corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes with timely closure and verification of effectiveness.
  • Maintain audit readiness, coordinate responses to internal, customer, and third-party assessments.

Manufacturing Quality Leadership

  • Lead the site quality inspectors/technicians in daily execution across one or more value streams (inspection, testing, nonconformance management, MRB support).
  • Ensure adherence to control plans, standard work, and change control; validate effectiveness of process controls.
  • Monitor and improve key metrics (e.g., FPY, scrap, rework, customer complaints, cost of quality) with clear action plans.

Structured Problem Solving and Risk Reduction

  • Facilitate root cause analysis using tools such as A3, 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone; deploy solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain and improve PFMEAs and Control Plans; support SPC and process capability analysis where applicable.
  • Oversee MSA/gage R&R for critical measurements and ensure calibration compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Customer/Supplier Interface

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues, support NPI/ECN changes, and improve process capability.
  • May oversee performance of suppliers/service providers, including incoming quality, SCARs, and supplier containment activities.
  • Interact with customers on quality topics (e.g., complaints, containment status, corrective actions, and verification of effectiveness).

People Leadership and Development

  • Enforce safe work practices and procedures.
  • Lead, coach, and develop quality inspectors/technicians; manage staffing, priorities, and training to build capability.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, problem solving, and accountability across the site

Occasional interaction with customers and suppliers; limited travel may be required

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical or business discipline required
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a quality role
  • 1 or more year in a supervisory/leadership role

Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of QMS principles and requirements (e.g., ISO 9001) and audit practices. Proficiency with quality tools and methods: CAPA, 8D/A3, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and nonconformance/MRB processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications; familiarity with GD&T preferred.
  • Data-driven decision-making with competency in KPI dashboards and basic statistical analysis.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influence skills; effective across shop-floor, engineering, and leadership levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across more than one value stream or related process.

Certifications (preferred, not required)

  • Internal Auditor (ISO 9001 or applicable), ASQ certifications (e.g., CQE, CQA), and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
