Summary
Manages the comprehensive medical nutritional care of patients which includes MGH Nutrition Services is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week), permanent Registered Dietitian to provide outpatient nutrition services across three Mass General Hospital Community Health Centers: Chelsea Health Center, Charlestown Health Center, and Everett Family Health.
In this role, you'll deliver Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to a culturally diverse adult and pediatric patient population while partnering with an interdisciplinary care team to promote positive health outcomes. The ideal candidate brings experience in community-based nutrition care, enjoys both individual and group counseling, and is passionate about building lasting relationships with patients and the communities they serve. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly preferred.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Dietitian who is looking to make a meaningful, long-term impact in community health.
Essential Responsibilities
-Provide comprehensive nutrition care through nutrition assessments, individualized care plans, medical nutrition therapy, diet modification, nutrition -education, and ongoing evaluation of patient progress.
-Develop and implement evidence-based nutrition care plans by integrating nutrition assessments, physician referrals, clinical data, interdisciplinary care plans, and established standards of practice while addressing each patient's medical, cultural, developmental, and psychosocial needs.
-Document nutrition assessments, care plans, recommendations, follow-up visits, patient education, discharge planning, and other nutrition-related interventions accurately and in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
-Educate patients and families on therapeutic diets, healthy eating strategies, and disease-specific nutrition recommendations through individual and group counseling.
-Collaborate with providers, care teams, and food service staff to support patients' nutritional needs, including meal planning, nutrition support, supplements, and adherence to prescribed diets.
-Contribute to patient education resources and support initiatives that promote nutrition, wellness, and chronic disease management within the community.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field required.

Licenses & Certifications
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) required or eligible to obtain upon hire, as applicable.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) preferred.
  • Massachusetts Dietitian/Nutritionist licensure required or eligible to obtain in accordance with state requirements.
  • Heartsaver CPR AED Certification preferred.
Experience
  • Completion of an ACEND-accredited dietetic internship or supervised practice program required.
  • Three (3) or more years of outpatient, community, or clinical nutrition experience preferred.
  • Experience providing Medical Nutrition Therapy to diverse adult and pediatric populations preferred.
  • Experience with individual and group nutrition counseling preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills strongly preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Ability to assess patient needs, apply clinical judgment, and develop individualized nutrition care plans.
  • Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to educate, coach, and motivate patients from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and age groups to achieve nutrition and wellness goals.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a community health setting.
