2 nd Shift - ABB ROBOTIC OPERATOR
Position Summary
The ABB Robotic Operator is responsible for programming, modifying, and operating ABB robotic systems to safely produce high-quality structural components in accordance with 's safety, quality, and production standards.
This role requires advanced blueprint interpretation, strong mathematical proficiency, and the ability to calculate, adjust, and optimize robotic programs for varying part sizes and complex geometries. The operator is responsible for fixture development and setup, robotic path accuracy, burn parameter optimization, and dimensional verification.
This is a high-skill technical manufacturing position requiring precision, mechanical aptitude, and ownership of automated equipment performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create, modify, and optimize ABB robotic programs
  • Teach and adjust robotic points and cut paths
  • Calculate offsets, joint positions, and coordinate adjustments
  • Adjust machine parameters to meet program requirements
  • Validate program accuracy through test runs and dimensional checks
  • Safely operate robotic systems during production
  • Perform fixture setup and changeovers for small to large structural components
  • Verify alignment, part orientation, and clamping prior to cycle start
  • Adjust and develop fixtures as needed to support production requirements
  • Compensate for distortion or material variation when necessary
  • Interpret complex blueprints and dimensional tolerances
  • Perform layout verification using precision measuring tools
  • Apply advanced math skills including geometry, fractions, decimals, and basic trigonometry
  • Calculate offsets and coordinate positioning to ensure dimensional compliance
  • Make programming adjustments as required
  • Complete required quality and traceability documentation
  • Diagnose programming errors and mechanical inconsistencies
  • Identify consumable or equipment-related issues
  • Coordinate with maintenance when advanced repair is required
  • Perform preventative maintenance and daily equipment checks
  • Follow all safety procedures including PPE and lockout/tagout
  • Maintain an organized robotic cell and surrounding work area
  • Meet production targets without compromising safety or quality
  • Proactively communicate issues impacting production or quality
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years robotic programming experience required
  • Experience programming ABB robotic systems and/or Oxyfuel & Plasma cutting experience preferred
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills
  • Strong mathematical ability including geometry and measurement conversions
  • Experience with fixture setup and dimensional verification
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills
Physical Demands
Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane and forklift. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
